I had a small vision, just an image of a single scene, a man kept by two mares, with his hands in their vulvas, and the third mare, someone very important, coming. I decided to turn this into a small story and began writing. In my plans it was to be something below 10k.
Then the simple writing slid out of control. New plots were opened and old didn't close, new ideas were coming faster than I could write them down, I was putting things I didn't want to refer later at all but I was changing my mind as they were fitting my other designs. (like the Underground Network, at first I had no idea what is it.)
I kept writing and was scared to death because as long my ideas were coming, the story was flowing and I still had no interesting ending! Two whole stories (Dragon Heart, independent desert furry fantasy and Buran the Traveler, one of Tribal Legends) I had been writing a bit earlier died because of it: I began writing it and simply didn't have any idea of a good end - so it just landed in a drawer waiting for better times.
And then I sighed with relief: I got the idea for an original and interesting ending. Just an outline, not even sketch, just the main idea what it will be... Ohh, what a relief. Okay, time to finish slowly, the story is about 100k already :) So I began closing the threads, fitting last ideas that were waiting in queue, looked for an actor to roleplay the session with me... And new ideas kept coming! Network as weapon! Network as sex tool! Where could I fit a starship Horses will use? How can I nicely introduce the history of the World?
And so the story grew another 70k, finally I typed the last dots, "By Sharpfang", [esc]:r!date and it was done.
Meantime I told a few people about it and that it will be very soon released. Perrier agreed to correct it for me so I told "By the end of this week it will be ready". I knew I shouldn't have said that. It took me 2 days to run it through ispell and send to Perrier... And he got overloaded with work. Simultaneously I had it in draft dir on my devel server and to my surprise found LV joined in, sent me the mp3 he created saying it perfectly matches the end orgy, and corrected many mistakes. We discussed some of them... some of his doubts will be included here :) Ah. And the short fireball scene was especially on his demand. (Spells without a fireball! No!!! ;)
I kept urging Perrier for a month or so yet, finally as a native speaker he was the only to catch most of my mistakes. Meantime I printed a copy of what I had and began correcting it myself. I noticed a lot of silly mistakes. ("Damn, the Sierra Leone news are in two places of the story! Have to remove one occurance!", "I and the mares lowered our heads to the bowl, not I lowered my head to the bowl with the mares!". "Perrier, you're in the middle of the 9th chapter, but which one, the first 9th or the second? What I mean? There are two 9th chapters!") and then I began correcting, correcting, correcting... And finally Perrier's version came. I launched 'diff' and began correcting according to him. (Sorry Perrier, but I won't give my simple past up in the 'quick' passages :) The next evening I had most of it ready :) Well, I have to include the associated files yet :)
And then correcting it... Well, to make things short I'll just give the software and hardware that was used while creating and correcting it and the associated files: Amiga CED, vi, Pico, edit, MS Word 97, ispell, diff, more, xterm, mp3 compressor, sox, Personal Paint, Deluxe Paint IV, Gimp, man, mpg123, boa, MSIE4.0, Netscape 4.x, Pine, File Master 2.2, cat, tf, grep, and some more I don't know about. The computers were 4 PCs (P233 (Linux), C466 (Linux), C500 (Win98), unknown (Win98)) and Amiga 600.
During the time of correcting the story I recalled the time of fear about no ending, then thought about it more and got the idea of using this as an artistic expression and so Winter Night - Unfinished Story came to life.
Chaos Madness Pulse - MP3 created by LV to picture the last scene :)
The satellite view of the Valley, data from the Russian spy satellite.
The map of the Valley. Try recognising the places I mentioned!
But this is anatomically impossible! Well, sometimes I stretched the reality a bit... But it's true a man can accept a horse penis in his anus (not whole length and not from biggest horses), it's true a mare can be tight enough to pump her urine into the penis and a man can fit whole arm inside of a (big enough) mare. Some positions would be hard to reach (like adjusting the height of Erina and Ravena in the beginning or the sandwich during the BReP ride.) but most of it was pretty realistic :) Especially basic mare orgasm, this is a first hand knowledge :)
What happened to Tpony? Well, I guess he survived, 99% of the citizens of the Valley survived the assault. And he lived long and happily with his mare :) (btw, IRL it was a gelding.)
What is inside of the Palace? It's site of... What? Sorry, I'm not permitted to tell anyone what's inside the Palace but some day, maybe in many years, when you least expect it, the Queen will request you to come and you will see the Palace from inside yourself. It's really an interesting place and Queen calls everyone sooner or later.
Destruction of the whole human race? That includes me? If you ask this question, then yes, you didn't qualify. The correct question is:
Destruction of the whole human race? And what happened to all the animals that were kept by humans? A great action of releasing the animals, Sekken had to postpone his holiday, every pair of hands and (double pair of) hooves was needed. No, they didn't get to release all the animals and some of them starved to death. But then, without humans to kill them, they populated the world anew...
And what about the Internet? It has been rebuilt. Without spam and commercial banners.
Horses? Not dolphins? No, the cooperation between the three civilisations developed pretty well. And some time later the rats joined in :) And then... But that's another story.
How come nobody found the Valley?Unicorn guards do much more to their victims than just pierce them with their horn. Besides, the whole Valley and surrounding terrains are the private property of IceBusiness LTD.
Hey, IceBusiness really exists! Oh yeah. Just tried entering that URL too. Well, that's the risk of buying too many domain names... you may get associated with a wrong person. I wonder what will the future owner of my old netscape account say when he starts receiving comments "What was the dog's dick size? Did she suck him off?" (I just got this one today... but due to Netscape's account renaming someone else will start getting my email soon.)
But man! That part from the flashbacks is just unrealistic! Yes, it is. So what? This is Equine Fiction, doesn't have to be real! At all!
Using so many bodies at once would be impossible - too confusing. Have you ever tried yourself? No? So how do you know, huh?
Where did the unicorns come from? If they didn't find this out, how do you think I or you could know?
What is the political system in the Valley? There's Queen, and the Gathering. And their rights and duties are... hmm, Hell, I have no idea really.
Aren't floods dangerous for the Valley? The rivers in that areas are quite unstable and the rains very violent. But do you think with their technology they couldn't handle this? Well, I won't write it here but the solution is simple. If you want to know, ask!
How did Husker learn about the Valley? He needed 12 years. He had motivation (revenge for the shame) and resources. And there were fresh tracks - Just to follow...
Does the main hero have a name? Yes, and it's the same as your own. What a coincidence!
The talker... Yes, it exists really. You can meet me sometimes there :) You can identify it from the texts it shows. I guess it will be easier than counting the oceans on the planet Wolf (also possible task, but somewhat more difficult, if you succeed in counting the oceans, tell me and I'll write the next story with a dedication to you! ;)
Is the CIA server password real? No, sorry.
The Valley structure is a geological nonsense! Unless you employ enough of technology and resources into keeping it in that shape.
9-bit OS? That's ridiculous. Stop thinking Intel. Read some about Transmeta products and it may stretch your imagination a bit.
*) Well, that are the questions I got already, I could expect and ones I asked myself. BTW, "FaQ" was the only sentence that forced Amiga's Narrator.device to pronounce "fuck you" properly.
